Mystery surrounds the identity of a boy whose half-eaten body was found at Nairobi National Park.

Police say since the body was discovered on Saturday, no one has come forward to claim it.

Police and managers at the park had initially thought the boy got lost while on a tour with guardians or parents. They have since concluded, however, he was killed elsewhere and dumped at or near the scene.

Injuries to the skull indicated the boy had been murdered.

Langata police boss Monica Kimani appealed to anyone with a missing child to report to the station.

“We expected a parent or guardian claim it but we have nothing so far and we suspect he was killed elsewhere and dumped there,” she said.

The body had been half eaten by wild animals.

Officials at the park were on routine patrol along Kisembe plains in the park when they spotted the body of the child, aged about one. They called police.

Meanwhile, police are looking for a bodaboda rider and a pillion rider who dumped a body of a teenage boy at Lianas Hospital in Kangemi and fled.

The youth, aged 17, had injuries to the mouth and head. He died while being treated.

Preliminary findings indicate he was a street child.

Police are looking for the rider to establish who caused the injuries.
