Key changes Ruto made during creation of his Cabinet

The Devolution docket did not feature anywhere in the list announced by Ruto.

President William Ruto on Tuesday announced his new cabinet members designate.

The list is subject to approval by the National Assembly before they can begin work.

During the announcement of the cabinet, the President made some notable changes to Key ministries.

The changes saw some government functions moved under different ministries, while some ministries were scrapped.

The Devolution docket did not feature anywhere in the list announced by Ruto.

The ministry's roles have, however, been handed to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who will coordinate inter-governmental relations between the National Government and County Governments.

In other changes, the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government will now be called the ministry of Interior and National Administration.

During former President Uhuru Kenyatta's tenure, the Devolution CS was in charge of Arid and Semi-Arid Lands but under Ruto, the ministry will be in the East African Community (EAC), Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) and Regional Development.

The Foreign Affairs and International Trade ministry held by Raychelle Omamo will now be called Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

The Youth Affairs docket has been removed from the Public Service and combined with Sports and Arts, while Public Service and Gender has been added to the affirmative action docket.

The ministry of Tourism and Wildlife has been added the heritage docket.

Urban development which was under the transport ministry will now be work hand in hand with the ministry of lands. 

Roads, Transport and Public Works will be under one ministry.

Trade and Industry will be one ministry and Cooperatives will be another ministry under the Ruto administration, unlike during Uhuru's time. Cooperatives ministry will have an additional docket for Micro, small and medium enterprises development.

Ruto separated the mining docket from Petroleum and will now work with the Blue economy and maritime affairs.

The energy docket has been combined with Petroleum.

Agriculture and livestock development will be a ministry on its own as irrigation returns to the ministry of water and sanitation.
