President William Ruto on Tuesday outlined the roles he has delegated to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The President said he has assigned the DP the roles to enable him execute his roles as President.
"As I promised, my deputy is going to be a very busy person," Ruto said in a statement at State House, Nairobi ahead of the unveiling members of his cabinet.
"It's also important that we set up the new cabinet early so that begin the process of implementing the plan that we set out before the people of Kenya and persuaded them to vote for us," Ruto said.
The President he will send an executive order for print to assign the DP very clear responsibilities that will help him discharge his responsibilities as President in accordance wit the Constitution.
Among Gachagua's roles is to deputise the President in executing all presidential functions stipulated by the law.
He said Gachagua will also chair Cabinet committees and oversee implementation of cabinet decisions across all ministries and departments.
He also said the DP will coordinate intergovernmental relations between the national government and county governments.
This will include chairing the intergovernmental budget and economic council (IBEC).
Gachagua will also be the liaison between the constitutional commissions and independent offices in matters that require government intervention including budgets, policy formation and implementation of their recommendations.
The DP has also been assigned the role of coordination of planning and supervision of development partners funded programmes and projects.
Gachagua has also been assigned the role of overseeing public sector reforms and other functions the President may assign him from time to time.
