A man accused of stealing perfumes and replacing them with either empty bottles or used ones has been charged at a Kibera court.

Clifford Omondi was charged on Friday before senior principal magistrate Monica Maroro where he denied the charges.

According to court papers, on diverse dates between September 15 and September 17 at the City Walk warehouse along Mombasa Road and City Park in Westlands within Nairobi County stole assorted goods including perfumes, barcodes, one body lotion and a City Walk tag all valued at Sh589,860 contrary to the law.

He had been employed by the said company before he committed the offence.

According to the court papers, the accused person was arrested after the personal assistant, head of the perfume department, reported the matter to the police after viewing the CCTV footage.

In court, the magistrate granted him a bond of Sh1 million or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000.

Maroro directed that the case be mentioned on October 6 for a pre-trial.
