The Public Service Commission has extended by seven days the deadline for applying for principal secretary jobs.

The commission had previously set September 20 as the deadline for the applications.

In a statement on Tuesday, PSC said interested individuals will have up to September 27 to make their applications.

"The Public Service Commission has extended the deadline for submission of applications for the advertised position of Principal Secretaries in the public service from today 20th September 2022 to Tuesday 27th September 2022," PSC Chief Executive Simon Rotich said.

The PSC on September 6 invited those seeking the position of principal secretary to apply by September 20.

"Women, minorities, the marginalized and persons living with disability are encouraged to apply," the statement read.

Article 155(3) (a) of the Constitution mandates the PSC to recommend to the President persons for nomination and appointment as Principal Secretaries.

The applicants are expected to get clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

They should also be cleared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) (Certificate of Good Conduct) and have clearance from Credit Reference Bureau.

The interested persons must hold a degree from a university recognized in Kenya and have at least ten years of relevant professional experience, five years of which should have been in a leadership position or at a top management level in the public service or private sector.

They should also meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.

PSC said they should also possess general knowledge of the organisation and functions of Government.
