Former MP for Turkana North Christopher Nakuleu has been declared the speaker of Turkana County Assembly unopposed.

Turkana County Assembly Clerk Linus Lokawa declared Nakuleu the speaker after five other nominees were disqualified.

Lokawa said two nominees including Abraham Losinyen and Derick Epae were disqualified because they are still holding public offices.

Other nominees disqualified for the speaker position were Susan Aletia, Jane Apetet and Derrick Epae.

Nakuleu becomes the third speaker of the Turkana County Assembly.

He unsuccessfully contested the Parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket and lost to Paul Nabuin of the ODM Party.
