Former Chief Justice David Maraga on Wednesday attended the swearing-in of six judges appointed by President William Ruto immediately after his inauguration on Tuesday.

The six sworn-in are justices Korir Kipyegon, Muchelule Otsyula, Odunga George, Joel Ngugi and two others, Makori Evans Kiago and Judith Omange who were nominated to the Environmental Court.

The six were recommended by Judicial Service Commission for an appointment but former President Uhuru Kenyatta refused to appoint them.

The matter was a subject of a push and pull between Maraga and President Uhuru with the former CJ at one time holding a press conference to castigate the president.
