Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has gazetted Tuesday, September 13 as a public holiday for the swearing-in of President-elect William Ruto.

Head of public service Joseph Kinyua on Tuesday urged Kenyans to unite and celebrate the day.

"It is notified for the general information of the public that the public secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, declares Tuesday, the 13th September 2022 to be a public holiday being the date of the swearing in of President-elect and Deputy President-elect," Matiang'i said in the notice.

Kinyua has similarly gazetted Ruto's and Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua's swearing-in saying the ceremony will take place at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani from 10am.
