Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has warned MCAs to desist from receiving bribes over elections of Speaker of the Kisumu County Assembly.

In a statement on Wednesday, Nyong'o said the MCAs should wait for directives from the ODM party over the election.

“I am shocked to hear that at a time when the whole Azimio fraternity is still in deep reflection on the way forward after the tragedy we have gone through, a few selfish individuals have forced the assembly into a near frenzy campaign mood, using money shamelessly to buy support, which is embarrassing to the national party leadership,” Nyong'o said.

He said a directive shall be issued soon to the MCAs in the same way the six-piece voting policy was given.

The governor urged the MCAs to avoid disruptive meetings convened to discuss the speaker's position.

“We are going through difficult times, indisciplined and shameless ambition is not a useful asset for the party at this point,” he said.

Nyong'o said the meetings will cause discord in the party.
