President-elect William Ruto now claims that there are leaders in Azimio who were forced to be members of the coalition.

Ruto was speaking on Monday in Karen while answering a question regarding the move to 'sign' new parties into the coalition.

Most of the parties he signed into his coalition were affiliated with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, led by Raila Odinga.

"Many of them were told if you don't join Azimio, this court case will be brought to you and many other threats," he said.

He said those who would wish to work with him cannot be blocked because Kenya is a democratic country.

"This is a democratic country and you cannot force anybody to make political choices they don't want," he said.

He added the leaders who joined his camp were his allies before.

"They were just boxed into a corner, threatened, blackmailed and told they must belong to a different formation."

On August 18, the UDM party led by Mandera Senator-elect Ali Roba joined Kenya Kwanza.

On Friday, former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi also joined the Ruto-led camp.

"These are people we were together. They were just told, you must be here otherwise x, y and z will happen," Ruto said commenting on their joining.
