Garissa Township MP Adan Duale has blasted Azimio leader Raila Odinga for calling himself, president-elect.
On Wednesday while touring Mombasa county to campaign for Mombasa ODM governorship candidate Abdulswamad Sharif Nasir, Raila alleged that they had won in the just concluded general election and that he was the president-elect.
Raila went ahead to ask the supreme court, where he has filed a petition, to declare him the winner of the August 9 presidential poll should it find he was victorious instead of ordering a fresh election.
The ODM leader said in the event the judges agree with his petition, they should find that the IEBC ought to have recognized him as the president-elect and not outgoing deputy president William Ruto.
But speaking at Garissa primary school playgrounds during the inauguration of Garissa governor Nathif Jama where he was among the guests, Duale, a close ally of President-Elect Ruto said that Raila’s utterances amount to treason.
“Kenyans in their numbers come out in large numbers on 9th of August and pronounced themselves through the ballot that their president is non-other than William Ruto and his deputy is Rigathi Gachagua,” he said.
He added: “The government printer has through the official gazette notice on 16th confirmed the same. These other stories we are being told are laughable. Actually, anyone doing this is committing a serious offence against the constitution”.
Duale said that as Kenya Kwanza, they respect the constitution and they will respect the verdict of the supreme court urging their competitors to do the same.
“Kenyans have already moved on and all they want is to see is their elected leaders and government serving them and delivering on their pledges and manifestos,” said Duale.
Raila and his running mate Karua claim they were robbed of their victory through illegal acts by the commission.
He has questioned the integrity of the presidential poll in which Ruto was declared the winner with 7.1 million.
Already commissioners vice chair Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyangaya, Irene Masit, and Francis Wanderi have distanced themselves from the final results that were announced by Wafula Chebukati.
