Azimio la Umoja spokesperson Makau Mutua now says that no state should recognise Deputy President William Ruto as president-elect.

Makau on Sunday argued that the Supreme Court has not yet made its verdict on the matter, on who rightfully won the elections.

"No state should recognize Williams Ruto as President-elect until all constitutional and legal processes are done in Kenya," he said.

Makau's words come after many heads of states congratulated Ruto as the president-elect, with some expressing confidence that he is a capable leader.

"Doing so prior to the exhaustion of the processes is tantamount to subverting the rule of law. Very disappointed some African states have jumped the gun," Makau said in a tweet.

Makau had on Thursday alleged that they do not recognise William Ruto as the president-elect.

He said he was confident the Azimio coalition won the August 9 election.

"As far as we are concerned there is no valid or legally declared winner of the election. There is no president-elect, perish that thought. We do not recognise that at all," Makau said on Spice FM.

He said Azimio will take legal steps to confirm their victory.

Mutua called on Azimio supporters to stay calm and firm as the coalition is undertaking legal processes.
