Pathologists will on Wednesday (today) examine the body of IEBC official Daniel Musyoka who was found dead in Loitokitok on Monday.

The post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of his death.

The body of Musyoka was positively identified by her two sisters on Monday, after it was discovered by Maasai herders along Meriko River, five days after he was reported missing.

A government pathologist is expected at Loitokitok sub-county hospital mortuary at 9 am in the company of a family-appointed doctor to carry out the postmortem.

Family members of the deceased will also be present during the exercise.

Detectives who went to the scene to recover the body said it appeared that the killers broke his neck.

Musyoka went missing on August 11, from the East African School of Aviation tallying centre. He disappeared at around 9:45 am.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said they had tried to reach him but to no avail.

"Musyoka's family and the commission have been trying to reach him without success. A report of a missing person has been made at Embakasi police station," Chebukati said on Monday.

On Tuesday, Kajiado County Police Commander Muthuri Mwongera said the body recovered along the River Meriko on the border of Kenya and Tanzania had marks around the neck, hands, and legs.

He said the scene where the body was found indicated that there was a struggle between the killers and the victim.

"It looks like the killers twisted and broke his neck," a DCI officer who went to collect the body told the Star.

Mwongera said the body was found naked and appeared fresh, meaning the murder could have just happened hours earlier.

“This is a complex case which we have handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation. The body is at Litokitok sub-county hospital mortuary waiting post-mortem,” he said.
