Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is back in the senate after defeating his six main rivals in the Kakamega Senatorial race.

Khalwale who ran on a UDA ticket garnered 249,003 votes against his main competitor Brian Lishenga of ODM who bagged 195,192 votes.

Others in the race were Winfred Asiko who got 14,602 votes, Sellah Keya (UDP) came forth with 11,916 and Patrick Butichi got 11,881 votes.

Chrispus Kaira (Independent) had 8,387 votes and Sammy Aina (Jubilee) had 6,491 votes.

Khalwale was handed the IEBC certificate by the Kakamega county returning officer Joseph Ayatta on Friday evening.

The Bullfighter appreciated the people of Kakamega for overwhelmingly voting for him in these elections and promised service delivery to the entire county.

"I want to thank the people of Kakamega because they have voted across the political divide and have given an opportunity to all Kenyans that have been waiting for the Bullfighter to go back to parliament to bring the same standards that we left there when we served this country. I am really humbled," Khalwale stated.
