Security remains paramount during election period - NPS

NPS said that election observers have acknowledged the role they played during polls

National Police Service assures Kenyans that the security situation across the country has remained calm and peaceful, before and during the electoral process. 

In a statement, NPS said that election observers who are in the country have acknowledged the role they have played in providing a conducive electoral environment. 

The police spokesperson congratulated his team for braving long and odd hours to support IEBC achieve its mandate. 

"We are pleased with the sterling performance of our officers, who have braved long and odd hours to support the IEBC achieve its mandate. We congratulate them for the performance," he said. 

Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso says the body has and will continue to support the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission with the provision of security across the country. 

The country is currently awaiting the provisional Presidential results from IEBC with 226 forms 34B uploaded on the portal. 

So far, forms from 16 constituencies have been verified by the commission. 

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati had earlier urged Kenyans to remain patient and calm as the electoral body is doing its best to announce accurate and credible results.
