James Orengo on Friday dwarfed the upward surge of his Siaya gubernatorial seat competitor Nicholas Gumbo to win the race with a substantial majority.
Orengo's win stamped the ODM party's authority in the county.
Siaya county's IEBC returning officer Catherine Bulinda announced Friday that Orengo won the race with 220,349 votes.
Gumbo, on the other hand, came second with 147,558.
The difference between the two candidates' scores is 72,791.
Millicent of UDA party was third with 4,678 votes whereas William Ochieng', an independent candidate, garnered 1,089 votes.
According to Bulinda over 374,000 people in Siaya county turned out to vote in Tuesday general election, representing a voter turnout of 70 per cent.
Siaya has 533,595 registered voters.
Bulinda noted that one per cent of the total votes cast were rejected.

Speaking after the declaration, the jubilant Orengo said that he has won comfortable despite the media having projected that the gubernatorial race was stiff.
"I had a manifesto and we are going to deliver," Orengo said in his victory speech.
He said that his governor will be anchored on the principal of good governance.
He was flanked by his running mate William Oduol and family.
