ODM has clinched all but one of the parliamentary seats in Siaya county.

ODM MP candidates, who were all incumbents, recaptured Rarieda, Bondo, Gem, Alego Usonga and Ugunja setas.

The party lost the Ugenya seat.

In Rarieda, Otiende Amolo won with 37,676 votes, beating his closest challenger Augustine Neto of UDM who garnered 23,266 votes.

Others were Kanu's Geoffrey Otieno (455), DAP-K's Joseph Okweso (310), UDA's Benard Odinga (154) and Independent candidate Isaiah Munje (84).

Samuel Atandi is the MP-elect for Alego Usonga, having received 69,129 votes. Former MP George Muluan of DAP-K came in at position two with 14,624 votes.

Atandi's win means he has broken the one-term jinx in the area. All his predecessors served for only one term.

In Gem, Elisha Odhiambo got a comfortable win of 48,256 votes after the name of his closest challenger was not included on the ballot.

The name of Booker Ngesa of CAPK was missing from the ballot.

Isaiah Ndiege came second with some 11,098 votes. Dan Adino emerged third with 4,640 votes.

Gideon Ochanda was declared MP-elect for Bondo by returning officer Dennis Obara.

Ochanda garnered 69,574 votes, beating three other candidates who scored 4,042 votes combined.

Humphrey Opondo got 2,510 votes, Namal Oronye 976 and John Barack 556.

ODM's secretary of political affairs Opiyo Wandayi was also triumphant.

He garnered 32,359 votes, defeating his two challengers, Fredrick Dor of UDM and Francis Odawa of MDG.

Dor got 3,156 votes while Odawa got 3,691. Incumbent Ugenya MP David Ochieng of the Movement for Democracy and Growth trounced the ODM candidate again.

He garnered 25,520 votes while ODM flagbearer Daniel Odhiambo got 22,828.

Ochieng's victory means he successfully withstood the clamour for six piece by ODM and party leader Raila Odinga's recent endorsement of Odhiambo.

In a 2019 by-election, Ochieng' beat Christopher Karan to become the area MP.
