ODM leaders and supporters in Kilifi are celebrating as provisional results indicate they are winning most of the key seats in the county.

Former Devolution CAS Gideon Mung’aro, who is running for governor, said he was leading in most of the polling stations in the seven constituencies.

Speaking at Barani polling station in Malindi, he urged the IEBC to speed up the process to avoid unnecessary tension.

Mung’aro said he had visited two tallying centres in Kilifi North and Malindi to ensure everything was in order.

He was accompanied by Amina Mnyazi, who is leading in the Malindi parliamentary race, Twahir Abdulkarim of Shella ward, Rashid Odhiambo (Malindi Town ward) and Oscar Wanje (Ganda).

Mung’aro urged the youth in Kilifi county to maintain peace the same way they did during the campaign period.

“As we campaigned with our few vehicles, others were busy going round with county government vehicles, but we still won. I want to assure the people of Kilifi that we are out to bring visible change in Kilifi,” he said.

Mung'aro said when IEBC declares the results they will go round the county with his team and thank the people of Kilifi.

“We shall rest a bit for one week and then begin thanksgiving rallies,” he said.

Mnyazi thanked Malindi voters for turning out in large numbers.

She also thanked security personnel and IEBC for ensuring there was security and transparency.

"I believe and trust in the process. We have faith in IEBC, security personnel and the people of Malindi.”

Wanje, who was leading in Ganda ward, urged those who will lose to join hands with the winners for the good of residents.
