All Kenyans should turn up and vote in peace, President Uhuru Kenyatta has said.

"Vote and vote in peace. The voting has been smooth and I haven't been there for too long," he said.

Uhuru said everything seems to be working well. He urged Kenyans to vote peaceful minutes after casting his vote.

He cast his vote at the Mutomo Primary School.

Uhuru was accompanied by his wife and other friends.

A contingent of GSU officers had arrived earlier at the polling station.

The GSU officers were seen walking into the polling station as Uhuru is expected to arrive shortly.

Voters started to cast their ballots shortly after the official opening of the polling stations at 6 am. 

President Uhuru said that Kenyans should vote wisely and maintain peace and order.

Uhuru echoed the sentiments of Mama Ngina Kenyatta who had earlier requested Kenyans to vote wisely.

Mama Ngina said that Kenyans are ready to elect leaders of their choice who will represent them in various positions.
