UDA has written to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) regarding a viral video clip posted on the Twitter accounts of Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Mombasa governor Ali Joho.

In a letter dated August 2, UDA secretary general Veronica Maina lodged a complaint against the aforementioned leaders and the ODM party, requesting their accounts' suspension.

"We implore your office to act immediately and take action with a view to take down the unlawful videos, as well as suspend the respective accounts for propagating hate speech," she wrote.

She said the video is choreographed with the intention of spreading hate and inciting violence.

"This video has also been intentionally edited with a deliberate aim and objective to cause ethnic hate, fear and intolerance during this peak political season," the letter reads.

Maina further pointed out that the intentions of the video go against Section 13 of the NCIC Act, 2018.

She said the video has caused hate, spread paranoia and is inciting ethnic groups to turn on each other.

In the original clip, the DP asked communities to unite and live together ahead of the August 9, polls.

"The Kalenjins who are here, the people from Western Kenya who are here, the people from Nyanza who are here, the people from Central who are here, the people from all parts of Kenya who are here belong to Uasin Gishu. Their home is Uasin Gishu. And this Uasin Gishu is the home of every Kenyan. And we want to tell those who want to divide us Shame on You!" the DP said.

The edited version has removed some of the statements above to create an impression that the DP told the people of Nyanza, Central and Western Kenya "Shame on You", which is not true.
