Education Cabinet Secretary Magoha has instructed schools to close to pave way for the upcoming General Elections.

Speaking at Alliance Girls High School on Sunday, after inspecting the ongoing constructions of CBC classrooms, he announced that learning institutions will remain closed for 10 days or a smooth electioneering period.

"We are breaking again this month and we will not open after the general polls," CS Magoha said.

In the event there are repeat elections, the dates are subject to change and this may affect the National Examinations scheduled for later this year.

"We may have to sit down as stakeholders and see whether it will be fair to examine the children if they will have lost a considerable amount of time, I pray that that does not happen, these children have suffered," Magoha explained.

The CS warned politicians from using schools as political grounds in their quest to garner support.

"We do not want politics in schools because the students have a very short term and it is only fair that they are left alone," Magoha added.

The 2022 Academic calendar is packed with activity seeing as it is bound this year to hold the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education [KCPE], Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education[KCSE], and grade three and six exams under the Competency Based Curriculum.
