Public outbursts between President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto have continued to get personal with Ruto now asking the head of State to retire peacefully.
The UDA presidential candidate appeared to be responding to Uhuru's attacks on him the past two days where he categorically said the second in command was a liar.
"Mr. President, leave the kitendawili man to me, let me square it out with him. You became the president and now you have finished your job, you can now go home," he said.
"Go home, and stop asking us a lot of questions. Be a gentleman, if someone helps you, stop pushing them to the corner, if you don't want to help me its okay, but let me be," Ruto added.
He was speaking on Thursday at a campaign rally in Maua, Meru county.
Uhuru has in recent days intensified campaigns for Raila while firing salvos at the DP, accusing him of being a liar.
While speaking in Nakuru county on Tuesday and Wednesday, Uhuru urged the electorate to vote for Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga saying 'the old man' has the country's best interests at heart.
"I ask you solemnly as I say goodbye that we continue being one, I want us to have a just leadership. I ask you respectfully, kindly support the old man," Uhuru said.
He accused the DP of double speak saying he promises coastal residents that he would return port services to Mombasa while at the same time takes credit for the Naivasha Inland Container Depot.
"We cannot deal with someone who likes lies," Uhuru said in his Kikuyu dialect.
But on Thursday, Ruto fired back at his boss.
He asked the president to step aside and let him square it out with Raila.
The DP said when Uhuru needed him, he was there to help him in 2013 and 2017.
"When you wanted someone to stand by you, I was there. Why do you now want to compete with me and asking me so many questions"? he posed.
In a twist of events, former Jubilee Party secretary general Raphael Tuju on Wednesday claimed that Ruto was paid off to support Uhuru in the last two presidential elections.
As a result, Tuju said Mt Kenya does not owe the DP any debt as far as supporting his presidential bid is concerned since his support for Uhuru was not in kind.
"A lot of people who supported President Uhuru went out of their way to collect this money and to make Ruto come on board," Tuju said during an interview on Citizen TV.
He insinuated that the amount was in billions of shillings.
"For a man who says seven billion is 'just', your guess is as good as mine," Tuju said when implored to state the exact amount.
Differences between Ruto and Uhuru have continued to play out publicly during political functions and State events.
The DP has countless times blamed the March 9, 2018 truce between Uhuru and Raila as the genesis of the breakup with his political soulmate.
