Jubilee nominates Uhuru's sister Kristina Wambui to Senate

70-year-old Kristina has no previous political history.

Jubilee Party has nominated President Uhuru Kenyatta's elder sister Kristina Wambui to the Senate.

In a party list published by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Kristina is listed second among 16 women the ruling party has settled on as its nominees to the legislative house.

Kristina, 70, also known as Kristina Pratt, has no previous political history despite coming from one of Kenya's top political families.

Other prominent women nominated alongside Kristina are Uasin Gishu Senator Margaret Kamar,63, and Ann Kananu, the current Nairobi governor.

Others are Gender Chief Administrative Secretary and the chairperson of the Anti-Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Board Lina Chebii Kilimo and Stella Nasieku Kaparo, women leader from Narok county.

Kenyan Ambassador to Iran Rukia Ahmed Subo Muhamed has also been nominated to Senate while Murang'a Woman Rep Sabina Chege has landed the slot to National Assembly.

Other notable nominees are Sammy Leshore who has been nominated to represent persons with disability in the Senate, and Alex Matere who has been nominated to the National Assembly.

Matere is a member of the Azimio la Umoja presidential campaign team.

Jubilee Party national chairman Nelson Dzuya has also landed a nomination slot in the National Assembly alongside Hassan Aden Osman who served in the same capacity in the 11th Parliament.

Jubilee has also nominated Issac Githua and Consolata Mutinda as youth nominees to the Senate as well as well as members to represent marginalised groups in the county assembly. 

In a gazette notice on Wednesday, IEBC said aggrieved parties who wish to lodge complaints arising from the final party lists are at liberty to file their complaints as from Friday, July 28, 2022.

“The IEBC Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) and the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) shall be hearing disputes arising from person aggrieved from July 28, 2022 to August 6, 2022,” IEBC said.
