Political commentator Herman Manyora has urged Deputy President William Ruto to tread carefully in his war of words with Defense CS Eugene Wamalwa.

He said the recent remarks made by the DP had a huge negative impact on his presidential bid especially in the Western region.

Manyora, speaking in an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday, said the remarks were received very poorly by the Luyha people.

"What William Ruto said about Eugene Wamalwa, referring to him as a woman, have hurt the Luhya, especially those who reside in Bungoma County," he said.

Manyora added that the slightest gains the Kenya Kwanza leader had made in Bungoma have been compromised.

He noted that the community, where Wamalwa comes, from will not vote Ruto because they regret the words he said about their kinsman.

Ruto, during his campaign tour in Trans Nzoia County on Tuesday,  argued that despite helping Wamalwa get a cabinet position in the Jubilee government, the CS has since turned against him.

He was responding to Wamalwa's claim that the DP nearly slapped him but the DP in a rejoinder, said “In our community, we do not slap women, we respect them.”

"Tell that man to stop going wild, if it wasn’t for me he would be roaming the streets. I am the one who brought him and gave him the ministerial job because I formed Jubilee with President Kenyatta, otherwise he would be nowhere?” he posed.

He said Wamalwa, who has since ganged up against him with his opponents, would now be jobless if it were not for him.

The second in command said the cabinet secretary was being ungrateful to him. However, Wamalwa has said that Ruto was opposed to his appointment to the cabinet.
