Kenya records 228 new Covid-19 cases

The positivity rate now stands at 9.2 per cent.

Kenya on Friday recorded 228 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 2,471 tested in the last 24 hours.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement the new cases pushed the positivity rate to 9.2 per cent.

From the cases, 204 are Kenyans while 24 are foreigners. 121 are males and 107 females.

The youngest is a one year-old while the oldest is 93 years old.

The total confirmed positive cases are now 335,569 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,777,444.

"Today, 20 patients have recovered from the disease, all from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program," the CS said.

This pushes total recoveries to 326,819 of whom 273,511 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,308 are from various health facilities countrywide.

There are 155 patients currently admitted in health facilities, 2,727 of whom are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Three  patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all of whom are on ventilatory support.

"Another 13 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen," Kagwe said.

No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

So far, a total of 18,955,324 vaccines have been administered across the country. 

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 20,227 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 8,842.

Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 32.0 per cent.

The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
