Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua on  Wednesday  met with IEBC where they discussed concerns raised over elections.

Deputy President William Ruto was represented by Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok and UDA secretary general Veronica Maina. Ruto however later joined the meeting in person at Windsor hotel.

Roots Party candidate George Wajackoyah and Agano's David Waihiga were also present.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati last week called for the meeting to address issues that had been raised by certain aspirants.

"The Commission invites you to a presidential candidates consultative meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday 29th June 2022 at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club from 9.00am," the letter read.

Some of the issues to be discussed in the meeting include the printed register of voters, election results path and harmonising of campaign schedules for presidential candidates.

"Please note that you may be accompanied to the meeting by not more than five persons."

Azimio coalition had on Tuesday requested to conduct its own audit of the voters' register, issuing a new set of demands to the electoral commission.

While expressing doubt about the IEBC’s preparedness to conduct the August 9 election, Raila asked for a certified copy of the voters register.

He also requested a list containing details of all polling stations, ballot papers design and printing location, and the number of Kiems kits to be used.

“Kindly furnish us with a certified copy of the digital register of voters, including the full names and identification card numbers of the voters for each ward in Kenya, to enable us to carry our own audit of the voter register,” Raila’s lawyer Paul Mwangi wrote in a letter to the IEBC seen by the Star on Tuesday.

The letter was written on Monday ahead of IEBC meeting with all presidential candidates on Wednesday.
