A suspected paedophile wanted in the UK for child sexual molestation has been detained at the Anti-terror Police Unit (ATPU) pending his extradition process.

Anthony Kamau was arraigned before Mililani Magistrate Wendy Micheni on Monday saying he is ready to go and clear his name.

"I am willing to go to the UK and clear my name. I am a Kenyan by birth and never taken any other nationality," he told the court.

Kamau requested the court to allow him to see his family before he is extradited, a plea that was granted by the court.

The cost of extradition will be borne by the UK and Northern Ireland.

Kamau is wanted at the Chelmsford Crown Court of Great Britain and Northern Island where he faces 7 counts relating to sexual offences involving minors.

He has been on the run after jumping bail in the UK.

He was arrested on Friday last week by detectives based at the Transnational organized crimes unit.

He faces four counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of sexually assaulting a child aged 13 and two counts of causing or inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.
