Exiled Lawyer Miguna Miguna has hit out at Kiambu governor candidates William Kabogo and Moses Kuria for the feuds within Kenya Kwanza alliance.
Miguna accused the two of preferring Azimio la Umoja presidential running mate Martha Karua, because of their 2027 ambitions.
He claimed it was because Karua is weak and unpopular in Mt Kenya, and they see Kenya Kwanza running mate Rigathi Gachagua as an obstacle to their plans.
"William Kabogo and Moses Kuria prefer weak and unpopular Kikuyu running-mates like Martha Karua because of their 2027 ambitions. They consider Rigathi an impediment to the realization of their ambitions. They don't care about UDA or Ruto," Miguna claimed on Tuesday.
His remarks follow protests by Kuria of Chama Cha Kazi and Kabogo of Tujibebe Wakenya party over mistreatment by Gachagua.
They then wrote a letter to DP Ruto telling him that they would not campaign together until unresolved matters within the coalition are resolved.
It all started on Saturday when Gachagua endorsed UDA gubernatorial candidate Kimani wa Matangi for the Kiambu seat, in the presence of other aspirants from the Kenya Kwanza coalition partner parties.
This led to an altercation between Kabogo and Wamatangi.
On Sunday, Kuria in an interview said the Deputy President led party was sidelining other parties within Kenya Kwanza in the planning of campaigns with Mt Kenya region.
The Gatundu South MP noted that in some of these meetings, UDA leaders plot against their partners from the region.
"We find this to be dishonest and I find it to be when we talk about the politic of deceit and conmanship which made us run away from Jubilee, I find this more exemplified by what is happening against us in Mt Kenya region as opposed to what we are fighting Jubilee about," he said.
Kabogo on Monday insisted that Gachagua’s selection as William Ruto’s running mate and his call for six-piece voting of UDA party candidates in Kiambu County has led to woes within the coalition.
“The selection of Gachagua as the running mate has caused some problems and if we do not say it, then we will be pretending. Many people may fear saying it but it is out there," Kabogo stated.
Kabogo further cautioned the Kenya Kwanza team to be wary of their campaign strategy in the region, stating that the selection of Gachagua as the running mate had made their popularity in the region dip.
Admitting to change in popularity, the former Kiambu Governor said the entry of Martha Karua has made Azimio’s popularity rise in the Mt. Kenya region.
