• Mwenesi said if they continue fighting within the alliance it will create an amble time for Azimio la umoja to win the election.
• However the move is likely to create amble time for Mudavadi who has been battling with the UDA candidates at his backyard.
Vihiga UDA woman rep candidate Jackline Mwenesi has shelved her ambition and thrown her support behind the incumbent Beatrice Adagala.
Mwenesi said she chose to drop out of the race to avoid infighting within the Kenya Kwanza alliance which would give ample time for the Azimio la Umoja camp a clear chance to win the election.
"If we continue facing off each other in the coalition we are going to fall terribly," Mwenesi said.
She spoke at Kidundu stadium in Vihiga county.
Mwenesi's exit is undoubtedly a sigh of relief for ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi who has been battling with the UDA candidates in his backyard.
The Amani National Congress leader has been calling on his supporters to only vote for leaders vying on his party ticket, and not those seeking seats on Deputy President William Ruto's UDA.
ANC and UDA entered a pact together with Ford Kenya to form the Kenya Kwanza alliance.
Adagala was cleared to defend her seat on the ANC party ticket.
Other candidates that are giving Mudavadi a nightmare in his backyard are Clement Sloya for MP and Jackson Swadi Senate.
However, Mudavadi has urged the locals to rally behind MP Alfred Agoi who is vying for governor seat in Vihiga county.
On June 9, a video emerged of Mudavadi telling Vihiga residents not to embarrass him by voting in UDA candidates since the area is perceived as his political bastion.
“If you look keenly, do you think Sugoi residents can elect an ANC MP in their backyard despite some of us being on one Coalition?” Mudavadi posed.
"don’t embarrass me in this forthcoming general election; just give me ANC MP in my backyard," he added.
