Marsabit County Multi-Agency security team on Wednesday received four rifles and ammunition that were surrendered to various Police stations within the county.
According to the National Police Service, a Mark IV firearm loaded with three rounds of ammunition was surrendered to Laisamis Police Station by the Chief of Laisamis location accompanied by the area elders.
The Assistant Chief of Elhadi Sub-Location also handed over a G3 Rifle, loaded with two rounds of ammunition to the Dukana Police Station.
"An AK-47 Rifle loaded with two rounds of ammunition was surrendered at Korr Police Station by the Assistant Chief of Korr Sub-Location," the Service said.
Further, the Assistant County Commissioner of Ileret, accompanied by the Chief of Illeret Location and elders from Selicho handed over an M16 Rifle to the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Ileret Police Station.
NPS said the Rifles and ammunition have since been kept in safe custody awaiting further police action.
The service has lauded the administrators for their relentless efforts in mopping up illegal weapons.

Rejesha Amani in Marsabit operatives have been conducting sensitization forums in the area leading to the surrender of more illicit weapons.
So far, more than 200 guns and 3,000 bullets have been recovered.
Earlier, the Chief Lorem of Koibirir in Marakwet East Sub-County handed over two AK47 assault rifles to the General Service Unit (GSU) Camp at Tot.
The first rifle was received from a resident of Kisiwel Sub-Location, while the second rifle was surrendered by a resident of Kowow Sub-Location
