Expect action, police assure Kenyans on Rongai armed robbery

Police have assured Kenyans that they are working round the clock to apprehend the suspects who robbed a lady at gunpoint in Ongata Rongai.

In a statement on Monday, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said officers in Kajiado are acting on the case.

"While we strongly condemn this incident, we would like to assure the public that the National Police Service' officers in Kajiado are working round the clock to bring the culprits to book," the IG said in a tweet.

"Our sympathies go out to the innocent lady, her family and friends.

He asked anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the culprits to furnish the police with the same.

"We request all persons with any information that may assist in this investigation to report to the nearest police station, post or through our toll-free Numbers 999, 112 and 0800 722 203," Mutyambai said.

The ordeal was captured on CCTV. The six robbers ambushed the lady soon as she drove into her compound at Gataka.

The thugs were armed with a pistol, an AK 47 rifle and a machete.

They physically assaulted the victim and stole valuable household items from her residence.

The daring robbery came just days after two men who were caught on CCTV robbing a man in the Kilimani in June 2020 were sentenced to life imprisonment on June 9, 2022.
