The four were killed after women demonstrating against wildlife blocked  roads to protest the wildlife conflict

The women called for action over human, and wildlife conflict when the GSU officers opened fire and killed four on the spot. Seven others were wounded.

The group of women had staged a demo to express their anger following the death of a teacher who was reportedly killed by an elephant.

Governor Joseph Lenku condemned the use of live bullets by security officers.

While condoling with family members of the four people killed, Lenku condemned the police action adding that they should not have used live bullets on the innocent demonstrators.

“I pass my condolences to the families of the four people who have been shot dead at Masimba, along the Nairobi- Mombasa highway, during picketing over the increased killing of people by wildlife in Kajiado East,” said governor Lenku.
