President Uhuru Kenyatta named Uhuru Gardens one of the projects he was proud of as his tenure nears an end.
"I'm proud to have initiated this project and commemorating Uhuru Gardens is an honour," he added.
Uhuru noted that the Garden will represent Kenya's history which will be preserved in the museum and will be available for generations to come.
Before his speech, the Head of State was taken through a 19 minute documentary on how Uhuru Garden was upgraded.
The documentary also displayed different government agencies who had earlier been ordered to gather documents and artefacts for the museum, and explain their significance.
They include the National Youth Service, Kenya Forest Service, military, the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, and other uniformed agencies.
Each agency will have a room where they will display their history, including their uniforms and equipment and explain how they have evolved.
President Kenyatta also had the privilege to light the torch of eternity.
The flame will remain on to commemorate the lives of all the warriors who fought for Kenya's liberation.
Before Uhuru Gardens, President Uhuru commissioned the newly constructed T-Mall flyover along Lang'ata Road.
The flyover is a Nobel impr0vement for pedestrian safety and enhancing traffic flow at Junction which serves traffic from Nairobi CBD, Upperhill, Mbagathi, Nairobi West, Langata and Ongata Rongai.
