Wilson Airport to be temporarily closed to pave way for the military air show

The Kenya Defence Forces in conjunction with the Aero Club will hold Museum Air Show Festival this Saturday.

The show, is to be held at Uhuru Gardens along Lang’ata Road.  The Kenya Air Force will display both military and civilian aerobatic capabilities.

On Wednesday, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) announced the temporary closure of the Wilson Airport airspace on Saturday to pave way for the  KDF Museum Air Show Festival.

This will affect all arriving and departing flights on the aforementioned day between 7 am and 2 pm.

"Passengers scheduled to travel on Saturday through Wilson Airport are advised to check with their respective airlines for flight status updates," Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The display by the Kenya Air Force of both military and civilian aerobatic capabilities is aimed at engaging and entertaining the public.

The Kenya Wildlife Service will also be performing and showcasing its anti-poaching drills.

Other performing groups will include, Kenya Airways Embraer 190 fly-past, Phoenix Aviation Cessna Sovereign, Farmland Aviation firefighting display and aerobatics from Mark Hensman of South Africa among others.

The Force has invited all Kenyans to attend the Show.

The event precedes the Madaraka Day celebration which is expected to be held at the newly renovated Uhuru Gardens on June 1.
