Kirinyaga County residents are optimistic that Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga will name Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua his running mate.
An anxious yet hopeful mood rented the air for a better part of Monday morning in different parts of Kirinyaga county.
In Kerugoya town, Kibingoti, Kutus and Mwea, residents congregated in small groups as campaign tracks made rounds across various town belting the common Azimio la Umoja theme song 'Lero ni lero'.
In the busy Kibingoti market in Sagana,market activities halted briefly as residents burst into praise songs for Karua as they chanted Raila-Karua slogans .
Led by Elephas Kaangangi,the residents said it would be a great honour to have Karua picked as Raila's running mate.

He heaped praises on Karua describing her as an iconic national figure whose suitability as the next deputy president remains unquestionable.
He described Karua as an accountable leader possessing unmatched levels of integrity, a seasoned leader and a champion of human rights.
Through her long term experience in the political leadership ,Wambugu said Karua will aptly represent the Mt Kenya region in overseeing a fair distribution of leadership position and sufficient resources.
He added that a Karua appointment will be a smooth sail and subsequent victory for the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.
"We are confident that Karua will fit in the president Uhuru Kenyatta's big shoes. He is the right bet for the position because she has a rich legacy in her outstanding political career."
"Moreover she has demonstrated to be a defender of human rights and a patriot ,a trait that places her at the pinnacle national leadership.
He said if Karua is picked as Raila's running mate, it will remain a historic day in the national calendar and in the minds of Kirinyaga residents.
"It will remain immortalized in the history of this country that Kirinyaga county produced the first woman deputy president. We will mount a very vigorous campaign across the county because we are positive that Azimio la Umoja will carry the day."
Karimi Wachira, an aspiring MCA, said Karua will help secure the interests of Kenyans by selfishly guarding the public coffers.
In addition,he said Karua will help negotiate and push for the interests of Mt Kenya residents through the 'One man,one shilling,one vote.'
Moses Munene, another aspirant and resident, echoed his sentiment, saying he is expectant that a Martha Karua candidature will be help secure life transforming and economically vibrant nation.
