Wiper Deputy Secretary-General Dan Maanzo has said that the party is going to court after they felt shortchanged in the signed Azimio deal.

He said this even as Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced that he will address Kenyans today at 11 am, around the same time Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga is expected to name his running mate at KICC.

"It is a bargaining strategy to change the discussion in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition," Maanzo said.

Speaking in an interview on Citizen TV, Maanzo expressed confidence that ODM Party leader Raila might not pick Kalonzo as his running mate, claiming that the manner in which he has been treated in recent times was a clear indication he was not the chosen one.

“The way Kalonzo has been treated for the last one month, you can see the chemistry that used to be there in 2013 and 2017 is no longer there,” he said.

He noted that there have been external pressures from analysts, lawyers and also Kenyans as they feel Wiper is getting a raw deal from the Azimio.

“Kenyans are uncomfortable with what is likely to happen and part of the frustrations is that for Raila to be president, he has to work with Kalonzo,” he said.

There have been reports that Kalonzo is planning to ditch the coalition if Raila fails to name him running mate.

Sources have told the star that Raila has settled for Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua as the running mate.

Kalonzo has been eyeing the DP post and even changed his mind about skipping the interview by the Azimio running mate selection panel, saying that he didn't want to give anyone a reason to choose him as the deputy.

The panel had also interviewed governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega) for the running mate position last week.

Others are Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya and former Emgwen MP Stephen Tarus.
