Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has said that he shares the same political ideology with Deputy President William Ruto.

In a tweet on Monday, the governor shared a photo of himself with the DP, explaining that it was taken over a year ago, after an Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council meeting.

Kibwana said that Ruto told him he stood for bottom-up, and he responded that he has always stood with Wanjiru.

"I am told this is (re) trending. It was a beautiful photo after an IBEC meeting of the Council of Governors among others with the Deputy President of Kenya taken over a year ago. Then he told me he stood for bottom-up economics and I replied I have always stood with Wanjiku," the governor said.

He noted that social media users had started recirculating the photo.

Kibwana's remarks came hours after Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua ditched Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition for DP Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

The Makueni governor is one of the Ukambani leaders who have been protesting about how Azimio has been running its affairs.

"Odinga, you promised the 22 emerging political parties that there would be no zoning of regional enclaves. We joined Azimio upon your word and in good faith. In both CORD and NASA the so-called small parties faired badly. Let us not guillotine democracy," Kibwana said on Sunday.

In April, Kibwana revealed that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka wanted him out of the Azimio structures.

The governor said it had become impossible to work with the former Vice president in the Ukambani region under Azimio.

He noted that he has no choice but to make peace with this reality and hoped history would be kind to Azimio presidential aspirant Raila.

"It is proving impossible to work with Kalonzo Musyoka in Azimio in Ukambani. After he joined us, he has wanted me out of all Azimio structures," he said in a tweet.

"I have no choice but to be at peace with this sad reality. History will ultimately judge all of us."
