WhatsApp users will now be able to add up to 512 people to a group.

This was increased from the maximum 256 earlier fixed by the platform.

"Building private, safe, and secure communities takes work and we think this series of improvements will help people and groups stay close to one another," the platform said.

In a message sent to users, WhatsApp said its new features allows group admins to remove errant or problematic messages from everyone’s chats.

In cases where a group member sends an offensive message, the admin now has the power to ‘delete for everyone’.

Users will also be able to send files up to 2GB in size at once on the app, which is a massive jump from the previous limit of 100MB.

"In 2011 we introduced Group Chats, and we haven't stopped improving since," the platform said in a statement.

"In the coming weeks, we'll roll out the ability to share files up to 2GB and add more people to your groups so you can continue creating and nurturing meaningful, private connections."

The platform said it will be helpful for collaboration among small businesses and school groups.

We recommend using WiFi for larger files and we’ll display a counter while uploading or downloading to let you know how long your transfer will take.

On the new emoji’s, WhatsApp said users will be able to react with six different emojis on the platform.

They include laughing face, red heart, surprised face, thumbs up, teary face, and hands together.

However, Users can only add one reaction per message, and it disappears when the messages disappear.

Also, users will not be able to hide the reactions or the reaction counts. The recipients might see the reaction before you remove it or if removing it was not successful.

This feature allows a one-tap voice calling for up to 32 people with all-new design for those times when talking live is better than chatting.
