Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina has made light of Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Alfred Mutua's departure from the Azimio coalition.

In a tweet on Monday, Ledama said those who have chosen to join the Kenya Kwanza caravan were never fully in the Azimio la Umoja, to begin with, and their absence will therefore not be felt.

"We will surely not miss you …enjoy a blackout in the next government," Ledama said.

Mutua on Monday announced that his party had severed ties with the Azimo camp on grounds of being sidelined in the Raila Odinga-led outfit.

He said the MCC on Sunday night signed an agreement with the Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza outfit in utmost good faith.

"Deputy President William Ruto is a good man and he will change this country," Mutua told the press.

"Unlike Azimio, here is a document we signed and we know its content."

"They played us and sneaked a document on zoning. They have been doing nothing but managing us," Mutua added.

But Ledama, in his response, downplayed the dent the MCC would cause in Raila's quest to be the next president.

"I know for sure Raila Odinga will be the 5th President of Kenya. Those moving to Kenya Kwanza were never with us," he said.

Mutua's exit from Azimio comes even after the Registrar of Political Parties, Anne Nderitu, said 0n April 30 that none of the Azimio constituent parties can decamp from the formation.

She said that by dint of the constituent parties signing the coalition agreement, Azimio became a registered coalition political party in line with section 7 (7) of the political parties act 2011, and she had no powers to degazette the membership of the constituent parties.

"Hence the registrar has no mandate to sanction the withdrawal as per your request save for where the process outlined in the coalition agreement has been followed," she said.

She was responding to a request by Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi's Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) and Mutua's MCC to exit Azimio.

But Mutua rubbished the exit clause saying the constitution guarantees freedom of association.

"You cannot force people to be in an association they are not respected in," he said.
