Nairobi records highest number of fully vaccinated adults as Tana River is the least

The positivity rate now stands at 0.7 per cent.

Nairobi County has recorded the highest number of people fully vaccinated against Coronavirus.

In a statement released on Monday by the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the county has a total number of 1,476,010 fully vaccinated adults.

Kiambu County follows with a total of 574,548 fully vaccinated adults.

Tana River, and Lamu Counties are at the rare with 16,011 and 16,796 respectively.

The CS said that the government is working towards vaccinating a population of 27,246,033.

The latest data from the Health Ministry shows that as of May 8,  17,948,785 vaccines have been administered across the country.

Out of the vaccines administered, 16,318,416  doses went to the adult population.

Another 1,292,223 doses were given to those between the ages of 15 and 17 years.

The number of doses administered to teens between the ages of 12 and 14 years is 32,072 while 306,074 doses are booster jabs.

Over a period of 24 hours a total of 1,974 doses were administered.

The number of people fully vaccinated over that period was 978.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 30.6 per cent.

Covid-19 cases

The country recorded 19 new cases of the virus in the last 24 hours from a sample size of 2,889.

The positivity rate now stands at 0.7 per cent.

No death has been reported, the case fatality count remains at 5,649.

"Of the new patients, 15 are Kenyans while four are foreigners," CS Kagwe said.

Seven patients from the new cases are females while 12 are males; the youngest being an eight-year-old child while the oldest is 72 years old.

"Total confirmed positive cases are now 323,900 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,618,007," Kagwe added.

He said total recoveries now stand at 318,084 after 15 patients recovered from the disease, all of them from the Home Based and Isolation Care.

Of the total recoveries, 53,028 are from various health facilities countrywide while 265,056 are from the Home Based Care and Isolation program.

Kagwe reported that six patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 161 are under the Home-Based Isolation, and Care program.

The CS said there is no patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) but two patient are on supplemental oxygen in the general ward.
