Wiper Party supporters in Kajiado County have urged the vetting panel tasked with vetting the Azimio-OKA Coalition running mate hopefuls to pick their boss Kalonzo Musyoka.

Speaking on Friday during a peace awareness demonstration, the supporters acknowledged that every other running mate aspirant in the coalition is worth the position.

"But Kalonzo is an outstanding leader who has been able to broker peace in many occasions and should be appointed Raila's Deputy President," they said.

This comes after Thursday's remarks by KANU Party leader Gedion Moi that Kalonzo is the suitable choice for Raila's deputy.

Moi said in a letter to the panel that he strongly believes that Kalonzo fits the bill and is the most suitable to deputise Raila.

"It is our sincere hope that this panel will consider and find him appropriate for the position of the Deputy President and consequently recommend his selection," Moi said.

The seven-member panel has started the vetting process and is expected to submit two final names to Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta for final vetting.

The Kajiado Youth team in partnership with the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol, and Drug Abuse (NACADA) and AMREF had led peaceful peace demonstrations urging people to keep peace during the campaign and election period.

The group walked for more than 10 kilometers to create peace awareness in the county.

They urged young people to be alert and not fall into political schemes leading to violence.

The theme of the awareness was 'Elections bila Noma.'
