Six top journalists from The Star Newspaper have been shortlisted for Media Council of Kenya AJEA awards.
The six include; Senior Digital reporter Nancy Agutu, Reporter Solomon Muingi, environmental reporter Gilbert Koech, photographer Andrew Kasuku and Business journalist Victor Amadala.
Others are; journalist Hesborn Etyang and former Star journalist Malemba Mkongo.
The Annual Journalism Excellence Awards is the council's signature event to celebrate journalistic excellence and achievements in Kenya.
Winners will walk away with cash prizes, trophies, certificates and training scholarships.
Agutu is among three journalists shortlisted in the Development Reporting Print category.
Muingi has been shortlisted in the Agriculture And Food Security Print category.
Koech has been shortlisted in the Development Reporting Digital category.
On health Reporting Digital category, Hesborn Etyang was among the shortlisted finalists.
On the Investigative Reporting Print category, Victor Amadala was among the three finalist.
Andrew Kasuku was selected as a finalist in the Photojournalist of the Year Award category and on Sports Reporting Print category, Malemba Mkongo was shortlisted.
They emerged as finalists after MCK received more than 1,200 entries. Out of this number 153 journalists were shortlisted.
MCK said the entries was subjected to a judging criterion premised on ethics and journalism principles by a seven-member panel of editors and journalists.
The 10th annual journalism excellence awards will be held on May 6 at Safari Park in Nairobi.
