Wiper party leaders have maintained that their party boss Kalonzo Musyoka must be on the ballot as ODM leader Raila Odinga's running mate.

Speaking during a meeting at the Kalonzo Musyoka Command Centre on Tuesday, the leaders affirmed that Kalonzo is the suitable candidate for the seat considering that their joint ticket has proven to be an indomitable force in the past elections.

"We are going to take no less than the deputy president," Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi said.

He added that his electorates will not accept any other political arrangement that excludes Kalonzo from the presidency.

Makueni County Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior said they want the matter settled as fast as possible.

"If Kalonzo had been announced as the running mate back at KICC during the endorsement of the Azimio presidential candidate, there won't be any of the current disagreements," he added.

Embakasi South MP Julius Mawathe pointed out that Kalonzo is able to pull about 3.8 million votes to Azimio and should therefore be considered for the top seat.

The former Vice President was issuing nomination tickets to Wiper aspirants.

The remarks come after Kitui Senator Enock Wambua on Monday warned that he will not vote for Raila if he does not pick Kalonzo as his deputy.

Wambua was speaking in a KTN interview.

He added that Kalonzo deserves the position citing that he has put his presidential ambitions aside since 2013 to back Raila.

On Sunday, Kalonzo urged his supporters to stop pushing for the position adding that God will play his part.

“God is going to do for Kenya this year. People can see that leadership does not belong to those who have big money to abuse other people,” Kalonzo said.
