Girl who scored 113 marks in KCPE gets Grade B

Najma Mohamed Hassan is the most improved student in the just resealed 2021 KCSE results after scoring Grade B.

The ministry based on the KCPE marks when identifying the most improved students.

Hassan, a student of Banisa Mixed Secondary School in North Eastern County, scored 113 marks in the KCPE exam.

Education CS George Magoha on Saturday said the candidates who, despite their poor KCPE performance, did not give up on their secondary school education.

Okoth Cindy Adhiambo sat for the exam at Sigoti Complex Girls School and got a B-. She had 165 in the KCPE exam.

The students who scored Grade B after having low KCPE marks are Mbilo Boniface Wambua, Maina Humprey Mwangi, Kituku Simon Mavii, Njoroge Kelvin Mwangi and Shawiza Isaac.

They had 241, 211, 221, 207 and 242 marks in the KCPE exam, respectively.

Sharon Cheptoo got Grade A- in her KCSE which was a significant improvement from 267 marks she scored in her KCPE.

CS Magoha said the list aforementioned is made of students in sub-county schools and only one in the extra county.

Magoha further said that 11 subjects recorded a significant improvement in the 2021 KCSE results.

This is compared to the 19 subjects that recorded high improvements in the 2020 exam.

"There was no significant change in performance in seven of the subjects offered during the 2021 KCSE exam," CS Magoha said.

The number of candidates with minimum university entry qualification of Grade C+ and above rose to 145,145 in the 2021 exam compared to 143,140  in 2020.

A total of 826,807 candidates sat the exam in 10,413 centers compared to 747,161 in 10,437 centers in 2020.

This reflects an increase of 79,646 or 10.66 per cent.
