Uhuru, Raila arrive at KICC for Azimio meeting

Uhuru is the chair of the council while Raila is the Azimio party leader.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to chair the first council meeting of the Azimio- One Kenya Alliance at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on Thursday, April 21.

ODM leader Raila Odinga arrived at the venue of the meeting at around 8 am. He later welcomed President Uhuru who arrived at around 8.30 am.

Other leaders who have arrived at KICC are Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua, Kanu chairman Gideon Moi, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, Taveta MP Naomi Shaban and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.

The agenda of the meeting will be to discuss pertinent issues within the coalition as well as iron out glaring differences that are threatening the coalition.

Some leaders have been fighting for the running mate slot in the Azimio coalition.

Wiper leader Kalonzo has insisted on being Raila's running mate for the third time while a section of female leaders from the Azimio coalition wants Martha Karua to be named Raila’s running mate.

The meeting, which will be the first since the Azimio coalition was formed, brings on board the council membership.

The  council members include Kalonzo, Karua, Joho,  Moi, Ngilu, DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi, Muranga Woman Representative Sabina Chege, Abdi Noor Omar Farah and Taveta MP Naomi Shaban.
