Kenya records 18 new cases of Covid, positivity rate at 0.9%

The positivity rate is now at 0.9 per cent.

In Summary

Kenya on Thursday recorded 18 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,086 tested in the last 24 hours.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement that from the cases, 13 are Kenyans while 5 are foreigners, 10 males, and 8 females.

The youngest patient is a 9-year old while the oldest is 63 years.

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 16, Garissa 1 and Trans Nzoia 1.

The total confirmed positive cases are 323,664 while the total cumulative tests are 3,576,023.

The CS said that no patient has or recovered from the disease, hence, the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,649.

The CS added that 31 patients have recovered from the disease, 23 are from the Home-Based and Isolation Care while 8 are from the health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries were 317,882 of whom 264,856 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,026 are from various health facilities countrywide. 

Three patients are currently admitted to various health facilities while 130 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on supplemental oxygen or in the general wards.

No patient in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Vaccination Campaign 

A total of 17,837,914 vaccines have been administered across the country.

The number of doses administered to the adult population is 16,313,182. 

Another 1,231,273 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 293,459 a are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 8,425 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 5,498.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 30.3%

The positivity rate is now at 0.9 per cent.
