Former Youth Principal Secretary Lilian Omolo is among the big names handed a direct Jubilee ticket ahead of the August polls.

Omollo will be contesting the Embu senatorial seat on August 9.

The National Youth Service (NYS) suspect received her ticket on Tuesday during a function at Jubilee headquarters in Nairobi.

She landed the direct certificate after days of consensus and will now be facing off with outgoing County boss Martin Wambora who will be contesting on his Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UM).

Also in the race is current Deputy Governor David Kariuki who bagged the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket last week.

Jubilee which opted for consensus amongst candidates to avoid fallouts has embarked on the issuance of certificates to successful nominees who will fly its flag in various elective positions across the country.

The ruling party’s Director of Elections Kanini Kega on Tuesday told aspirants to wait for their nomination certificates in their respective counties and not to travel to Nairobi for the document.

According to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) timelines, political parties must hold primaries by April 22.

Addressing a press conference at the Jubilee Pangani headquarters, the Kieni MP said the party will issue dates when aspirants will be receiving their certificates in their regions.

"There's no need for anyone to come to the headquarters, certificates will be issued in the counties from Tuesday going forward," Kanini said.

“We beseech our members not to come to the headquarters until we call them."

He was flanked by Jubilee National Elections Board (NEB) chairperson  Stephen Wandeto during the media briefing.
