Garissa Township MP Aden Duale now claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta wanted to impeach his deputy William Ruto.
The MP said the Head of State used some leaders in the opposition to try and topple Ruto out of office
This comes after reports emerged that the President told a group of Mt Kenya elders that Ruto wanted to impeach him, hence his move to seek ODM leader Raila Odinga's help through the Handshake.
"You tried day and night to bring an impeachment motion against DP, using your friends like James Orengo. But because the Constitution in the impeachment of the President and the Deputy President has set a very high threshold you, could not attain those numbers," Duale said.
The former majority leader added that the president has now changed the narrative to implicate his deputy that he wanted him out.
Duale added that if Ruto was after power, he would have refused to hand over the power back to him when he returned from the ICC.
"William Ruto became an Acting President when you went to Hague when you were facing serious crimes of humanity, he gave you the seat when you came back."
He also said that the president should instead ensure Raila is charged with treason after swearing himself as the People's President following the disputed 2017 elections.
