Garissa county leaders have appealed to the Interior CS Fred Matiang'i to suspend the curfew that has been enforced in some areas in the county.
Led by the former Majority Leader Aden Duale, he insisted that the curfew should be suspended from the first day of Ramadhan.
Duale condemned the curfew saying it is against the human Right of Worship, especially during the Ramadhan period.
Speaking during a graduation ceremony in Garissa on Tuesday, Duale said that the officers enforcing the curfew have been harassing the residents.
"Kama ni polisi, GSU, kama ni AP, wasikuje kutumia curfew kuja kuibia wamama na kuchukua hongo kutoka kwa maduka," he said.
Loosely translated to: "If it's the police, GSU or AP, don't use the curfew to steal from women and to collect bribes from the shops".
The Garissa Township MP added that the officers have been clocking in early for the curfew.
"Wanaanza curfew saa kumi ya mchana."
Loosely translated to: " They start the curfew at 4 pm."
On Wednesday, Matiang'i ordered a 6 pm to 6 am curfew in some parts of Garissa.
He said the curfew would last for 30 days.
The areas most affected include Garissa Sub-county, Garissa central, Waberi East, Waberi West, and Iftin.
He also ordered the suspension of all title deed issuance and land surveys.
