Deputy President William Ruto Ruto has yet again urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to leave the field and let him and former premier Raila Odinga to battle it for the presidency.

Ruto said that he has accepted the move by the president to support the ODM leader but requested him to leave them to square it out.

"I urge the president because I helped him in 2013 and 2017 to clinch the presidency, he should leave me to square it out with Odinga. I have accepted he is not ready to support me but I kindly ask the president to let me together with the people defeat Kitendawili without helping him," Ruto said

He added that he will defeat Raila Odinga the way they did in 2013 and 2017.

Ruto also said that his first priority, if he wins the August elections, will not be to amend the constitution but to create employment for the youths.

Ruto who was speaking during a series of rallies in the Bahati constituency, Nakuru County, said he will create a special fund of Sh100 billion to cater for small scale business enterprises.

He said having accomplished many things with president Uhuru such as Construction of roads, railway and Technical institutions, it was time to ensure the common mwananchi has money in the pocket.

"We are stating categorically when we take over the government in August, we have programs that will ensure the common person has money in the pocket. That's why am saying because we have built Railways, roads, connected electricity and built TTIs, what we must do now is to put money in pockets of our citizens," Ruto said.

He added that the first priority will be to make sure that the youths have jobs.

His counter part in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance Musalia mudavadi accused the handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga of running down the economy.

According to the ANC leader, the economy of the country started going down on its knees when Odinga and Uhuru started sharing the same plate in government government.

"When Raila joined the government, Uhuru Kenyatta relaxed and forgot about the economy, the prices of gas, cooking oil and food prices skyrocketed," Mudavadi stated.

He added that if the money that was used in the BBI process was used to subsidize the prices of fertilizer, then the prices of the commodity would not have risen to Sh6000 which has made it impossible for the farmer to purchase it.

Kimani Ichungwa on his part told the President to stop crying that they are playing politics with the boda boda narrative.

He faulted the president for starting the rough game against the young investors in the boda boda sector.

Ichung'wa added that if the president means well for the riders, should order the National Police service to unconditionally order the release of boda bodas detained after the crack down.
